Make sure that you're not double clicking the exe file and running FLSM from within the "steamapps/common/FLSM" folder. Instead, make sure you are running it from within the Steam app or from the icon that Steam installs. If you run the game from inside its executable folder, it might not be able to detect that Steam is running.
